Roberto Montagni The Organization for Bipolar Affective Disorders has recognized that a person's
journey to wellness is an individual one that has its own unique challenges. In
today's workplace, home and family the journey is often overlooked and requires
additional help for the individual by connecting with a peer who has successfully
navigated their own recovery.
We are pleased to provide now Certified Peer Specialists to work with individuals
during their recovery.
Our philosophy has always been that peer support is a vital tool alongside doctors,
social workers and workplace human resources. What we offer is real one on one
support that augments one's existing supports,
Why a Certified Peer Specialist?
When faced with mental health concerns an individual is faced with many challenges
often the best person to talk to is one that has overcome certain obstacles. These issues include stigma,
is one that has overcome certain obstacles. These issues include stigma,
discrimination, workplace issues and family concerns.
A Peer Speciaist brings years of understanding the dynamics of treatment from the
patient's point of view. The peer specialist does not replace any clinical models
or treatment but offers support and guidance with real empathy and understanding.
Our Certified Peer Specialists have Mental Health First Aid Training
and years of facilitating peer support meetings. We know because we have been there
and we believe people should not be alone in their journey of recovery.
